The building
Turku Music Hall Fuuga will be built on Independence Square on the east bank of the Aura River.
The future Music Hall will offer world-class acoustics for orchestral music as well as a modern setting for a wide range of events appealing to different audiences.
Joining the string of cultural buildings along the Aura River, Music Hall Fuuga will be an open and active venue for the people of Turku and an interesting destination for visitors. Its world-class architecture and acoustics will attract a growing number of international performers and visitors to the city.
Shared responsibility in the alliance project model
The City of Turku’s alliance partners in the project include Hartela Länsi-Suomi Oy, PES-Architects Ltd, WSP Finland Oy, and Laidun-design Oy as subcontractor. In alliancing, the alliance parties share responsibility for the realisation of the project goals.
The name of the Music Hall, Fuuga (fugue), was chosen through a two-phase public vote organised in 2022. The project is currently in the construction documents design phase.
The aim is that construction would start during 2023 and the building would be completed in early 2026.
